I'd first like to Congratulate those who have been a part of the PA (Performing Arts) community of MC over the past many years, both while i've been involved and before. The community and spirit that has been there from before i became involved in 2001 was no mistake, it was no accident.

It was the legacy of a hard-working group of people over many years with common goals in mind, to have fun, to explore the arts, and to share their talents with the community.

Make no mistake about it; as one of the 4 leaders of PA this year i feel i have failed you all. But I feel most biterly that i have failed those in the younger year levels and those not yet involved with MC PA. When i walked into MC it was so easy to be a part of PA, now these people will have to carve their own futures, raise support and funds and fight through an apparent lack of concern for PA found recently among the Administration.

PA is not for everyone, but everyone who wants to give it a go should be able to. And no-one who i've ever seen give PA a go has ever been worse for wear.

I also feel i've failed the Backstage Department.
-At this point i'd like to put all the pride of my past behind me and say that on recent reflection i would not have been the best leader for the crew in years previous. As bitter as i have been, and as much as i could have done some things better than the leaders who were chosen, i could not have managed the environment of friendliness that i and everyone after me has openly and easily walked into.
Now, as Backstage winds up, i regret that more people won't be able to experience the wonderful and rather practical times i've been a part of. Rock Eisteddfod, as wonderful as it is, will never inspire an educated and technically knowledgable crew, it is about teamwork and brute strength, both admirable, but neither exclusive to PA. Even the set building/painting side of things has gone thanks to the steps to make that part of year 9 coursework.

All the Backstage deterierations have been minor until this year, in fact last year saw new equipment and new hope for the future of Backstage.

Please, understand that no student that we are aware of has any more information than what was printed in the newsletter yesterday, and we will be finding out all possible information at the earliest possible time. Do not think we will be sitting on our hands on this one.

I may have failed up until now but i refuse to allow that to mean that i don't put my best effort into fixing this situation and re-building the PA community for the future so that in years to come students will reflect on just how easy it was to make it into the MC PA community and how much fun and experience they took from it.
